Bird watching

Today I am cooking and watching the birds. The weather is raw and it is a good day to do exactly what I am doing. I soaked a bag of white bean over night and this morning I washed the bean and cut a ham steak into chunks and I am cooking them slow. I have put a pan of cornbread into the oven and in about an hour lunch will be ready. 


Mom is making good progress in her rehab program and I think another month and with a little help she will be home.


VJ is doing well except for the occasional fall , which she handles well. She don't fall as much as she just crumbles . It take both of us to get her upright. the girl still loves to shop and she buys clothes which I am not sure she will ever wear & if she does it will not be , but few times.




Got word this morning the youngest grandson has been accepted into the gifted and talented program in his school and the older boy will be test for the program this spring.    Both are smart , sure didn't come from this grand paw.

Life is good !!

HD on TV

One night this week VJ and watched the gifted man TV program , this is one of her favorite TV program. The program ended with one doctor telling the other about the HD in his family and how his father had died from HD and his brother had kill himself because he saw the horrible way in which the father suffered and he did not wish to face the same fate. The conversation ended with the discussion  about why doctor # 1 had not been test for HD. I think in coming week &  months on this program we  see doctor # 1 descend into the hell that is Huntington. VJ had nothing to say after the show ended. I am not sure how she digest something like that .

Yesterday was birthday # 55 for VJ , she got two dozen roses , a visit from one sister and dinner  out with her mom, brother and other sister.  We came home and as soon as she  got her into her night clothes she went to bed and she is still there this morning.

Mom has started to make some real progress with her recovery and rehab. She has her mental facility back , even though U might doubt it if U didn't know she was deft as a post without her hearing aid which she say are not working properly so she is not using them .She starts talking during someone  else's conversation and it is on a another subject altogether . I hope we can get her back to her home in the next 30 days.

The cat and I were having coffee just about the time it got light good and a bunch of deer came into the our back yard there were ten of them , guess they are looking for food and cover. I wish I had had time to get my camera , but they keep moving. I am sure they sense the presents of the great hunter and mouse catcher Lucky the cat and keep moving (ho-ho) .

Well it is 37 degrees with a light wind and there are three guys playing golf, to cold for me . 

well time to VJ up and dressed  and get over to the rehab center.

New year New opportunities new sleeping arrangments

I have fail to keep this blog current  for a number of reason , mostly sloth , but there have been a other issues.
We had a great xmas  . The Jackson 5 from Charleston were in town for a few days and boy have they grown  our little house is almost to small . HG had to sleep on a palette . I remember as a child if we visited or if someone came to our house all the kid were on the floor on palettes. it was my 1st experience with camping ??  We had a great time . We had mom's xmas in Angier at the baptist church and that worked out great. We were with VJ and her family for xmas day . That was a lot of driving be we had a good time. 
Xmas night mom got very sick and spent the next week in the hospital. She is now in short term rehab. Not sure how long she will be able to stay in her home. That will be her decision as long as she can make decision 


VJ & I toke a 24 hour trip to the beach for new years, we had a nice dinner VJ hit a few shops and I bought a new hat.  we had a great time . 


 VJ "S  ability to walk is becoming more and more difficult . The combination of my bad hearing and her ability speak clearly is getting to be a wee problem , nothing we can't overcome , but one more thing to deal with.


I played golf a few times in December and played like a beginner so I am in self imposed lock out . I have filed a complaint with my union , you know the union of LOFT .  
with the exception of a few day the weather has been spring like , I expect winter will arrive but not yet.

Luck the cat and I have parted way as sleeping partners , I have developed an allergy so i lock him out of my bed room and he is not happy , but other than dropping him at the Chinese restaurant i must do it. He starts banging on my door if I am not up & out by 7am. 


We are still trying to sell our house without a lot of luck and very few looker of late. If it sells great if not this is a great place to live.


My # 2 son is still not speaking to me and I am not sure why , but he either will tell me what is on his mind or he will not. I can not address what I don't understand. He is a good man and I hope he finds his way back home


Vj want to go to supper and we need to stop by to see mom , so I am gone
