I am reading with a lot of amazement the  happen around the country related the growing  debt issue and how it is being handled   . For the most part I don't think the average person understands the problem . The size of the unfunded liability of the state and local government  is big , very big and growing. The folk we elected to deal with the problem  understand the problem , but will not make the need correction because as one local politician told me " I am the one with the target on my back" he was referring to his political life which is just as important to him as him as the other life..The unions have damaged ever thing they have ever touched and not just in this country look around the world , it is simply staggering in total scope .We all read the slaughter house and understand the condition which gave birth to the union movement , and current workplace rule  which came about as a result of those abuses all good stuff .  The problem come in when the union  are allowed to organize the public/government employees , which is the fastest growing and largest growing part of the labor movement.The folks who are charged with managing the public unions are the same one's who take there $$ at election time, spelled PAC's .
I think one of the glaring examples of abuse in  labor  is the teachers union , the cost per student in the public school system is at an all time high, the product  is substandard as benchmarks against the rest of the world. Not all of these problem in the school are union, but a great deal is , either Thur workplace rule or lobbing in the state house or in Washington.
How long before the FAT cat banker say no we will not buy your bond , we are not interest in your commercial paper , because the risk is to great, the federal government can only print so much $$ remember Germany in the 20s.  I hate to tell you history does repeat  , if you don't learn from the first time around

Looking for spring

It has been a cold winter in my little part of the world . The past 60 days have not been good for many out door activity .I think we all get a little cabin fever , from staying inside more and being exposed to more of the detail of  of the news and all the crap that the 24 hour new cycle can dish out.I spoke to the folks from the local paper this week who wanted information on the hospital ,I ask him had he talked to the hospital  PIO , he said yes  , but the  PIO wanted  to  meet and share the information requested to make sure the paper got the story right and the folks at the paper only want the information they requested and it would be up to them to "get the story right" damn the facts just give me a quote so I can say I got your side of the story .
VJ & and; I had another discussion this week about moving to SC , that would be a be a big step for us and not something we would do without a lot more thought. Both our Mom's are advanced in years which make the decision more difficult , most likely send the rest of our life's within 50 miles of this spot.

Vj chip a tooth , which we had repaired this week . She s not sure when or how she did it. Her balance is getting  more & more fragile it will not be long before we will need to consider using her chair all the time , which brings up the question of how do we get her into and out of this house. We are already to the point if she falls I have a very hard time getting her up . She still has a positive outlook on life.
I am doing a good job of getting out for my daily walk , trying to control the size of my large and growing body parts.
I think we will be able to play golf this weekend, mom is cooking bean soup for us tonight , should be good.

spare time

I am in the process of making supper , dinner for you folk who prefer. Cold and rain here all day  hospital meeting this morning  for breakfast and sat in for a radio interview on hospital quality this afternoon , I spoke maybe a dozen sentences , not a good format  for me , to many folks there.

Vj is well today still in PJ's which is what I wish I had been able to do.

Spoke to mom and she is in rare form , fighting with her sister , nothing new . The sister don't think me & KJ are doing our part to help mom, they may be right . I know mom has a tendency to be hard to get a long with , I guess that were KJ & I got it from .

The weather should be warm enough for golf Sunday , hope I can walk tomorrows , if I don't get my big ass moving me I will split my pants .

It is clear I don't have anything to say, so i will leave  you with a thought

Life is good!

New Month

It is amazing to me how fast the calender moves, it seems like life is in slow motion and the the next thing I know the month is gone.I have been retired for 21/2 years and I am starting to feel like it time for me to do something , not sure what but something.
The holidays were great , got to see the family and share a few meal and a few memories. Mom had a stay in the hospital, she is home and doing well . She has home health in a few day each week , but i am thinking she need someone on a permanent  basis , we will  see .Vj's mom is 90 and concerned about being able to renew her driving license in September. she lives at home alone and i am not sure how long that can go on.
Vj is doing great for a person with HD, she has an ID she is over weight which she is  not , but i don't push her on it , just let her work Thur it on her own. She has about lost all of her balance while trying to walk. She can move short distances , but more requires her chair. A guy who's wife also suffer with HD called and told me he had stayed in office last night because his wife told him to leave or she would kill him. I remember the story about the man who had no shoes .
Sj dropped the boys off with us so he could attend a four day coached conference last week and it was a change for me,vj &the cat  , but it was fun and we all survived. I think in the future I will keep the boys one at a time if it is for more than one day.
The hospital saga continues, the light I saw at the end may well be a train on our track. The folk who use the hospital and can't or will not pay for there services will break the bank. These folk make up 15% of revenues and we collect about 4% , I don't think a bigger truck will fix that problem.
The Club has been sold to an investor group who have the money to keep the club going , the ?? how strong is there commitment . We will see because unless they change the way the business is operated they will continue to lose $$ +the opportunity cost of their investment.

Time for a walk in the cold and maybe back for a nap
