Birthday # 87

Today was mom's 87th . The weekend started with Sj & family coming to town for the weekend. We got up on Saturday morning early so the boys and I could make pancakes & bacon. They ask for French toast , but upon learning I did not have powder sugar , it was pancakes.
We arrive at the fair round 10:30 and made the rounds , VJ was able to attend because of her chair . It was really great to get her out , but I must say I had to rest a few time when out path was up the hill. Sj got on a ride with # 2 , we could tell from the ground he made a mistake , it took him the rest of the afternoon to recover. The place was packed and VJ & I left at 2pm with folks still streaming in , it was wild. The kid stayed on until 5 or so afterward we meet for dinner and home to visit and bed.
We spent Friday at Duke with the Huntington folks , nothing new . Last Monday evening VJ fell . we took her to the doctor the next day we found she had broken her collar bone on the left side , very painful . She need a little more help dressing , but doing well , it could have been her head.

I must say the addition of another family into our house change everything , Vj, me & th old tom cat are into a routine and any little thing can change it .We are back on track .
We had a great time celebrating mom birthday today , It had a great day for the young ones to get out and visit and a good lunch at a local restaurant . Mom was happy and that is what counts. It was great to see the young ones together , it reminded me of when there parents were that age , the difference was the parents spent a lot more time together at the same age.

Hospital week coming up , we will see what it brings

Travel

Vj & I were in Asheville for most of last week to view the the color and enjoy the Grove park . The colors have not arrived , but the rest of the trip was great. The mountains have not had frost yet in the lower evaluation , so another week should see a different canvas . We got up Thursday morning to a cool bright day in Asheville , so we thought it would be a good time to visit the summit on Mt Mitchell. We arrived at the lodge which is not all the way to the top , the temp was 40f the wind out of the north steady 20kt and the fog was dense enough to block all view beyond 20 yards. We had lunch and returned to the hotel. Vj found a clothing store she liked in downtown Asheville and bought lots of stuff. Asheville has been discovered in the word of a local merchant and it seem folk of all strips have come to town. The town has always reminded me of 1965 , the art crowd is there is force and the old hippies have found an east coast home. It is a great place to visit and would be a great place to live , but I would not enjoy the winters.
We had a great surprise , when we meet Jim & son Bryan who were there on there annual fishing trip, I ask them what happen to the camping out I use to hear about, they said age took care of all of that foolishness. We had a dinner together and a nice visit. Jim is getting married ???

Back on the home front we have been without a dishwasher for a week now ,purchased two from Lowe's. The first one would not work because of the counter tops which i pointed out to the sale person before i close the deal on the first . There are no more sales people only order takers.Got the house & roof washed while we were gone , it looks like a new paint job.

Sj & family will be here next weekend and we are looking forward to there visit. I spoke to Bj a couple of time last week he is doing well and I hope he will visit also next weekend.

Vj has two appointment next week on @ Rex and the other @ Duke .A mix up in her drug supply has cause her to miss a week of the TET. We are not sure any of the new Med she has started have made any difference in her HD. Her balance is about gone , we used her wheel chair last week on the trip , without it we would not have been able to make the trip at all .Her speech and my hearing are both getting poor , not a good combo. Good new her vision has returned to normal after the cataract surgery.

Great fall day for golf and out to supper.

Life is good.

Me , Waylon & the Grouse

Yesterday afternoon The rain stopped the sun came out and it was a most wonderful Carolina day. Vj want me to cook a steak and and make banana pudding. I spent most of the day at the Vet with my cat , that is another story for another post. I got the grill going , got the boom box out loaded up Waylon and the Grouse . I must tell you that is the way to cook on a great fall afternoon with just a bit of cool air and a hint the cypress trees are turning that reddish brown . The steak was great , the pudding outstanding .
I have only played golf once this week for one reason or another mostly weather , we had 10" of rain in the last three days. We need the rain badly , but enough already.

Spoke to Sj , he and the family are well and looking forward to a week-end visit the end of this month. Have not heard from BJ in several weeks , I assume all is well with him also.

The CCJC is on the ropes financially and a potential buyer is buzzing around , I hope it works out since VJ and I have made the decision to sell this house get into a condo. i think it is going to be tough sell anyway , but a broke club in your back yard would make the sell much more difficult.
